The Social Kitchen – Design and Remodel in North Edmond

Our homeowners, located in West Edmond, contacted us with the desire of opening their cramped kitchen as they cook at home daily with young kids and entertain often.  The first order was to capture the unnecessary hallway space on the far left and incorporate that into the new kitchen space.  To accomplish this, we removed a wall, closed off a door, and added three beams to the ceiling.  As we planned to remove the high bar peninsula, they wanted to continue the previous wood floor throughout the new space – except for the work zone behind the sink and dishwashers.  Here, we placed heated tiles, set flush with the wood, so that when cooking barefoot, you were not shocked by the temperature change as you walk from wood to tile. During the build, our on-sight construction was completed in under 3 months – which was ahead of schedule.  This project was selected to be highlighted by the National Kitchen and Bath Association at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas.  It was highlighted on the cover of the magazine and displayed throughout the Vegas convention center.  Quite the honor!

Review from our homeowners:

It has been a little over a year since we completed our kitchen re-model, and even today, we are thrilled with the outcome. As a commercial contractor myself, I was looking for certain traits from the firm I hired for the project. From the initial meeting, to the final celebration, the team at Edmond Kitchen and Bath was world class. Though we were initially surprised by the budget required to accomplish what we wanted to do, the team at EKB was able to show me what was required to achieve the expectations that we had for this project. Design was carefully thought out to maximize functionality and kitchen use, and to give us the maximum visual impact. I was surprised by the painstaking care in every decision, and in every step of the creation of our new space. The quality of the cabinetry, and all of the finishes far exceeded our expectations. A year into very heavy use by our family, and there are no blemishes or defects. Their customer service a year later matched what we received during the design and installation stages. About 9 months after the project was over, our faucet stopped working correctly. We contacted EKB for advice on how to get parts, and they took it from there, including installing the new faucet components once they arrived. If I ever do another kitchen or bath project, there will be no reason to shop around. Our choice is already made.
