Edmond Kitchen & Bath LLC designs full-custom cabinetry for new homes and for turnkey design-build remodeling throughout Oklahoma City, Edmond and Central Oklahoma. Structural Spatial Re-Engineering: We optimize the structural footprint of traditional homes before beginning the cabinet layout. Our process regularly involves analyzing load paths to safely remove load-bearing walls, opening concrete slabs to relocate under-slab plumbing lines, and rerouting complex HVAC and electrical networks. The word “custom” is widely misused in the Oklahoma home remodeling industry. To make an informed investment, it is vital to understand the structural and functional differences between Big-Box retail cabinets, standard “Builder’s Custom” cabinets, and EKB Full-Custom Cabinetry.

Beyond simply filling the space with boxes, our process begins with the room and the people who will use it.

We study workflow, storage, appliances, architectural openings, sightlines, lighting and mechanical requirements before the cabinetry is finalized. Cabinet dimensions, proportions, interiors and construction are then developed specifically for the design. If a doorway, window or wall works against the room, we identify that conflict rather than using fillers and undersized cabinets to absorb it.

The objective is not simply cabinetry that fits the house. It is cabinetry that makes the house work and look better.

A skilled cabinetmaker can build what is drawn. The more fundamental question is whether the right cabinetry was drawn in the first place.

Cabinet design affects:

• how people move through the room;
• where food preparation, cooking and cleanup occur;
• how appliances open, ventilate and connect;
• whether everyday items are stored near the place they are used;
• how doors, drawers, panels, windows and architectural openings align;
• where lighting, outlets, plumbing and ventilation belong;
• how the cabinetry meets walls, ceilings, countertops and adjacent materials; and
• whether the finished elevation feels calm and intentional or fragmented and busy.

Brenda and Megan bring more than 25 years of experience each to those decisions. As state-licensed Interior Designers, they combine design judgment with technical knowledge of construction, codes and documentation. They also have decades of practical experience carrying cabinetry from drawings and renderings through field coordination and installation.

That experience is not added at the end to help choose a color. It shapes the cabinetry from the beginning.

Cabinetry composed as architecture. Cabinet walls are designed as complete elevations. Widths, heights, reveals, appliance panels and architectural elements are organized to create proportion and visual order. Sometimes several functions are manufactured as one assembly to eliminate unnecessary seams.

This single cabinet combines two door cabinets with a central wine-storage section of stained, angled shelves. Building the three elements as one unit creates fewer seams, cleaner lines and more precise alignment.

Storage designed around use. We determine what needs to be stored, where it is used and how it should be reached before assigning cabinet interiors. Drawer depths, pull-outs, adjustable shelving and integrated lighting respond to the homeowner—not a standard box.

In this new construction modern kitchen design, we placed specific storage accessories adjacent to the induction cooking zone. Look closely and you can see that we also integrated lighting inside each of the drawers.

Construction selected for the design. Partial-overlay, full-overlay, frameless and inset cabinetry create different proportions and character. Our cabinetry is produced in a dedicated shop using CNC and specialized equipment. We specify complete backs, adjustable shelving and extensive use of plywood rather than lowering the standard where components are less visible.

For this Kitchen remodel in NW OKC, we combined a custom, matte black venthood, with mitered-door, rift cut oak cabinetry in a light stain with a soft glaze.

Greater freedom in materials and details. The design may call for grain-matched walnut, reeded fronts, inset feature sections, metal-and-glass doors, integrated lighting, paneled appliances, architectural end panels or cabinetry fitted precisely to an irregular wall.

For this new-home dining room in northeast Oklahoma City, we designed bronze metal-and-smoked-glass display cabinets with black interiors and integrated lighting above high-gloss, wood-grain acrylic drawers. Matching toe-kick and uplighting complete the composition.

Often, the best custom details are visible as the absence of an awkward filler, applied trim strip, broken grain pattern or unresolved transition.

A high-end cabinet finish does much more than establish color and sheen. It serves as a defensive shield. It protects the raw wood from the moisture, oils, food acids, harsh household cleaners, and repeated daily handling common in high-traffic kitchens and baths.

While two cabinets may look identical on a showroom floor, their finishes will age very differently under the pressure of real-world use.

For much of our cabinetry, Edmond Kitchen & Bath LLC specifies catalyzed conversion-varnish coating systems intended for cabinet and millwork use due to their durability and resistance to the moisture, household chemicals, staining, repeated cleaning and general wear common in kitchens and baths.

The coating name alone is not enough. Even a premium finish depends on disciplined preparation and application. Sanding matters. Surface preparation matters. Primers and sealers matter. Drying and curing matter. A strong coating system cannot compensate for weak work beneath it.

Finish wear often appears first around sinks, dishwashers, trash pull-outs, frequently handled doors and drawer fronts, and the edges and corners touched every day. Those areas combine moisture, cleaners, oils and repeated contact.

When house shopping, you cannot tell how the cabinetry was prepared, which coating system was used, where it was applied or how it will look after years of actual use.

When comparing cabinetry, ask more than “What color is it?”

• What type of finish system is being used?
• Is the coating catalyzed?
• Where is it applied?
• How are the components prepared, dried and cured?
• How is the finish intended to perform around moisture and household chemicals?
• What is the process if a finished component eventually needs repair?

Custom cabinetry is a significant investment. The finish is both the surface that protects that investment and the part the homeowner touches every day.

Photorealistic renderings allow the homeowner to evaluate the design before production. After approval and field verification, the cabinetry is manufactured, finished under controlled conditions, delivered and professionally installed with close attention to fit, alignment and appliance relationships.
